Call for Paper/Registration
The Fourth Annual meeting of the Southeastern Conference on Historic Sites Archaeology (SECHSA) will be held September 18-20, 2015 in Augusta, Georgia. The conference theme “Beyond the Border” considers the interplay between border areas and broader regions. Individual papers, symposia, and posters on this topic, as well as any other aspects of historical archaeology in the southeast are welcome.
Abstract and submission requirements are described below. Papers will be limited to 15 minutes with five minutes reserved for questions afterwards. If you would like to attend the conference but not present a paper, please fill out the form with the necessary contact information and write in that you are just attending. If you are just planning on attending the conference, you can register all the way up to September 19, 2015 but payment will only be accepted in the form of a check.
A preliminary schedule will be available by early September. All abstracts must be accompanied by the appropriate registration fee. Students and Seniors should include proof of their status. All checks should be made out to Georgia Regents University.
Submissions are due by August 28, 2015
Symposia:
Symposia will consist of four or more papers organized around a theme, region, or specific research project. Those interested in organizing a symposium should submit a session abstract of no more than 300 words and collect abstracts (also 300 words) from individuals participating in the symposium. Symposium organizers will be responsible for ensuring that all presenters in their sessions have submitted their abstracts prior to the due date and will be the primary contact for participants in their symposia. Please use the attached form to submit a symposium. Organizers should submit contributing presentations on individual forms together with the symposium proposal.
Individual Papers:
Papers will be 15 minutes long and should present completed or on-going research. Individual papers will be assigned to sessions along with presentations of similar subject matter. Abstracts for individual papers should be no more than 300 words.
Posters:
Posters will be mounted exhibits with text and graphics that illustrate completed or on-going research. Easels or other means for display will be provided. Entrants will be responsible for printing their posters. Abstracts for poster proposals should not exceed 300 words.
*This year there will be a student poster competition! Attendees will vote for their favorite student poster and the winner will receive a series of publication by The Savannah River Archaeological Research Program.
